Construction: Expressive Language

This expressive language packet I simply love the clip-art and I hope you do too.

The packet includes:
*Multiple meaning words, identifying a category, naming items in a category, compare/contrast, developing questions, changing statements into questions, describing picture cards, and explaining idioms.
*Total of 247 cards, four mats, two open-ended game boards, 17 special cards, and a table to write multiple meaning sentences.






1) Multiple meaning words- 44 cards

         Print all construction signs/objects cards. Place all cards in a pile.  Have students draw a card and give two meanings for the given word. If they answer correctly the student keeps the card and places it on their tow truck mat.  The student that collects all six object cards first is the game winner. 

2) Identifying a category- 24 cards
 
*Students choose a category card. The student must identify the category in order to keep the card or to move along the game board. The first student to reach finish is the game winner.

                   OR




*Have students choose a card.  If the student answers correctly, they place   the card on their construction worker.  The first player to collect all eight items is the game winner.
3)   Naming items in a category- 40 cards
 
1)Print all cards.

2)Students choose a category card.

3)Students must name at least three items in the category in order to keep the card or to move along the game board.

4) The first student to reach finish is the winner.
 4) Compare/Contrast- 24 cards

        5) Developing Questions- 40 cards

     6) Changing Statements into Questions- 24 cards
   7) Describing- 18 cards
   8) Idioms- 27 cards

1) The Best Match
Directions:
-Students choose the option that best describes the photo shown.
If the student chooses the correct option, they may place the card in their basket. The student with the most cards is the winner.

Directions:
-Students perform the tasks given on the card.
-Student can place the card in their basket if they perform the task correctly.
-Student with the most cards is the winner.

3) Seek and Find:
Directions: Students complete the seek and find activities as stated.
Contains:
Two worksheets

4) Rita the Rabbit
Directions:
-Students follow Rita the Rabbit’s requests. If the student correctly follows, they get an egg. If the student performs the task without Rita requesting, they do not get an egg.
-Student with the most eggs is the winner.
*Contains:
30 cards
30 eggs (print as many as needed)

Inferencing Cowboys

Inferencing Cowboys targets inferencing while looking at photos, riddles, and short stories :)




 Inferencing Photos:
To play:
Students take turns choosing and looking at the photos. If they infer correctly, they keep the card.
Contains:
-18 photo cards
-character card

 Inferencing Riddles
To play:
Students take turns choosing and reading cards to each other. For younger students, the SLP will read the chosen cards. If they answer correctly, they move the number of spaces according to the number listed on the card.
Contains:
-western game board
-18 riddle cards



Making Inferences from Short Stories
To play:
Students take turns choosing and reading cards to each other. For younger students, the SLP will read the chosen cards. If they answer correctly, they get points. Have a student roll a dice and the number the student rolls is the number of points the student gets. The student with the most points is the winner.
Contains:
-Eight short stories
